Forest Restoration Coordinator

seeks a coordinator for its Forest Restoration program with a minimum of 1-3 years documented plant ecology and restoration experience, including Georgia and Piedmont native plant identification skills. Desired qualifications include strong commitment to the preservation and protection of Georgia's native plant communities, B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Natural Resources Management, Plant Ecology, Restoration Ecology, Urban Forestry, or related field; proficient use of ArcView GIS with ability to acquire, manage, and manipulate data; experience with herbicide application (license desired); outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; highly motivated, organized and detail oriented; and ability to work in a forest environment with physical labor. Job responsibilities include coordinating and evaluating contrator spraying and control of invasive plants in City of Atlanta parks; engaging and inspiring neighborhood greenspace work through education, outreach, and hands-on stewardship; presenting information about the Forest Restoration program at civic, municipal and partner group events; coordinating and leading fall/winter NeighborWoods tree planting projects including volunteer coordination, project design, species selection, project management and training; coordinating spring/summer NeighborWoods tree care projects including volunteeer coordination, project monitoring, watering, mulching, pruning and training; creating and updating restoration management and monitoring plans to guide and prioritize greenspace needs and solutions; creating and updating GIS data for restoration mapping, planning and monitoring; and assisting the Program Director as needed. 40-hour work week with some evenings and Saturdays required. Salary ($28,000 to $35,0000) and benefits based on experience. Must have a valid Georgia Drivers License, an excellent driving record and be drug free. Job responsibilities include mulching, fertilizing, pruning and general care of Downtown Atlanta trees. Strong back, friendly demeanor and impeccable work ethic required. A flexible work schedule based around a 40-hour week will apply. Must be available to work some Saturdays. $12-14/hour and some benefits.
