Atlanta Champion Tree Tour at Atlanta Memorial Park
Join Eli Dickerson, Fernbank Ecologist and volunteer manager of Trees Atlanta’s Champion Tree Program (a program of Trees Atlanta), in this 2-hour tour of the largest trees in the greenspaces along Peachtree Creek.
Participants will see a rare stand of bald cypress trees, along with a champion osage orange, green ash, river birch, loblolly pine and white oak. Participants will also see the tallest tree in Atlanta, a 166 foot tall tulip poplar (that’s 17 stories!).
This walk will be at a leisurely pace, but is not suitable for strollers. Participants should be able to comfortably walk 1 to 2 miles. Be sure to bring water and comfortable clothing (dress for the weather!). This walk will be rain or shine!
This is a free program. Please register to attend. There is a maximum capacity for this walk of 35 participants.
