Forest Restoration Project:Atlanta Memorial Park
Come help us improve the health and diversity of the urban forest at Atlanta Memorial Park!
The latest flooding on December 24, 2015 had a devastating effect on the banks along Peachtree Creek. Many sections of the creek banks had the vegetation washed away, leaving the banks exposed to further erosion. In other areas, sand was deposited along the banks covering the existing vegetation.
In accordance with Phase I of AMPC’s master plan and after consultation with Trees Atlanta, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) and others, it was advised that action has to be taken in the near term and that plants appropriate for the eroded banks need to be planted before spring so that they can have a chance to take root and stabilize the banks.
Your help on this day is needed to install live plants to help shore up Peachtree Creek’s eroding banks. To sign up for this project, click here to sign into your VicNet account or create a new account.
