Speaker Series: Georgia’s Native Azaleas
Did you know that there are 17 American species of deciduous azaleas? Georgia can claim 12 as native, more than any other state! Join us on March 7th, when Charles Andrews (Azalea Society of America) shares how to maximize your azalea collection to have a wide variety of bloom colors and sizes. By properly choosing species, one can have blooms from April to September; a color palate from white, pink, lavender, yellow, orange, red, and all colors in between; spicy or sweet fragrance in some species; and habits from low (2’) to tall (20’ ). More gardeners and landscapers should be planting our easy-to-grow native azaleas.
