Session 2: Urban Tree Planting & Tree Selection
Instructor: Linc Weis, Operation Director of Programming with Trees Atlanta
Instructor: Steve Sanchez, Principal Landscape Architect with HGOR

Linc will lead off the Session reviewing the steps of planting trees with Trees Atlanta in an urban environment. He will discuss the challenges associated and techniques to lessen the harsh urban conditions. He will lead an outdoor tour showcasing the features of the Kendeda Center in place to help mitigate soil compaction and other external factors affecting tree growth & health.

Steve will review the specifics of proper species selection for a Georgia and why particular trees are desirable for a variety of sites including the home landscape.  He will expand on particular species that are recommended for certain sites while reviewing the concept of ‘right tree, right place’. Together, Linc & Steve will explore how to evaluate sites and discuss the natural and urban limitations of tree selection and planting in Atlanta.
