Atlanta Canopy Alliance Pledge

Let’s work together to protect our “City in the Forest”

Trees provide shade, clean the air, and reduce storm water runoff. Trees improve our quality of life and give us beauty, food, and habitat for wildlife and pollinators. Every day, this important resource — our urban forest — is increasingly under threat.

As residents, voters, and environmental stewards, we want Atlanta’s elected officials and community leaders to know that we all care about the trees in our city.

To add your voice, please sign the online pledge form and ask your neighbors and friends to sign, too!

Thank you for signing the pledge. There are ways to help our trees everyday in your own yard or neighborhood streets. Here’s how you can make a direct impact today!

1. PLANT a native shade tree in your yard.
2. WATER, mulch, and prune your trees.
3. REMOVE English ivy and other invasive plants. Plant native wildflowers in their place.
4. CONTACT your City Council Member: tell them to protect our canopy with initiatives that preserve urban trees.
5. SPEAK UP in support of trees at neighborhood, zoning, variance, and NPU meetings.
6. KNOW your city’s Tree Protection Ordinance. For the City of Atlanta, visit atlantatreecommission.com.
7. REPORT infractions. Call your City Arborists immediately if you suspect trees are being removed without permits. City of Atlanta residents call 404-330-6874.
8. SHARE this pledge with others (treesatlanta.org/pledge). #cityintheforest
