Education

Atlanta's urban forest classroom – learn all about trees!

An ancient proverb says if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, he will eat for a lifetime. In that spirit, Trees Atlanta does not simply plant and maintain trees. Our education programs provide opportunities for everyone to learn proper techniques for planting and caring for trees, while also becoming better stewards for the urban forest. Teach a person how to protect their natural resources, and they’ll preserve them for a lifetime.

Education is at the core of the Trees Atlanta mission. With programs for volunteers, corporate and school groups, or anyone who wants to learn, we teach the best methods for planting and caring for trees, removing invasive species, and generally preserving our natural urban forest. Each program stands alone, but all serve a common goal; giving members of our community the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully restore and maintain the precious natural resources that are essential to our quality of life.

Youth Education

Trees Atlanta is, of course, eager to share the love of trees with the next generation! There are several available programs for children and school groups of all ages. With art projects, Urban Tree Trackers, and Junior TreeKeepers summer camps,  kids are given the opportunity to learn about trees, the environment, and conservation. Each program offers a unique approach to teaching about the natural world around us, and they are tailored for groups ranging from kindergarden through high school.
